The power of local broadcast is evident as articulated in a recent Broadcasting & Cable article by John Eggerton summarizing both a meeting and a follow-up letter from WVEC Norfolk GM Brad Ramsey with and to White House Judiciary Chairman Bob Goodlatte. Ramsey, whom also serves as the president of the Virginia Association of Broadcasters, brought to light the fact that Virginia’s public service stations have produced more than 57,000 hours of local news last year – making it an increase in news hours for four years in a row.
